Inter Milan loanee Benjamin Pavard is showing signs of improvement at Marseille under new coach Habib Beye, but the French defender looks set to return to the Nerazzurri this summer with a permanent buy-out considered unlikely.
According to Le Phocéen, via FCInterNews, Marseille are not expected to trigger the €15 million option to purchase Pavard at the end of the season.
Therefore making his departure from the club the most plausible outcome.
The France international arrived on loan from Inter on the final day of last summer’s transfer window and endured a turbulent first half of the campaign.
A difficult spell in October, which included poor performances in Champions League and Ligue 1 defeats, ultimately cost him his starting place under Roberto De Zerbi before the Italian’s own exit from the club.
The arrival of Beye has given Pavard fresh impetus.
His recent performances have been more assured, and the new coach has shown a willingness to reintegrate him into the squad.
But improved form has not been enough to convince the club to make a significant financial commitment, and a parting of ways at the end of the season now appears inevitable.
Beyond Marseille, Pavard‘s focus turns to France’s World Cup campaign.
The coming months represent a crucial window to rebuild his international standing and ensure he remains in Didier Deschamps’ plans.
When the season concludes, the question of his long-term future will fall back into Inter’s hands.
