Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta has sent warm Christmas wishes to all Nerazzurri, hailing the team’s progress under Cristian Chivu.

Speaking on a YouTube channel via FCInterNews, Marotta praised the team’s growth under the Romanian coach.

The San Siro giants appointed Cristian Chivu as Simone Inzaghi’s successor in June despite his lack of experience in senior management.

Indeed, the 45-year-old oversaw just 13 Serie A games in charge of Parma last season before joining the Nerazzurri.

However, Chivu has defied expectations, steering Inter to the top of the league table after the opening 16 rounds.

Furthermore, the Italian giants have positioned themselves perfectly in the 36-team Champions League table.

With two games to go, the Nerazzurri seem close to securing a second consecutive last-16 qualification.

Yet, there’s no room for complacency, with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund set to challenge Inter’s continental credentials.

Inter will spend the holidays as Serie A leaders after beating Genoa 2-1 last time out.

Despite suffering four defeats in 15 games, Inter boast a narrow one-point lead over second-placed AC Milan.

Still, Chivu missed a huge opportunity to win his first trophy in charge of the club as Bologna knocked Inter out of the Supercoppa.

“We are a very close-knit, very courageous group that wants to deliver satisfaction,” Marotta said.

“Long live Inter, and best wishes to everyone,” in the excerpt shared by Inter on their YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, the 20-time Italian champions will resume their Scudetto charge on Sunday.

Chivu’s men head to Bergamo to take on out-of-sorts Atalanta in a high-stakes league clash.

Marooned in mid-table, La Dea are at risk of losing a fourth consecutive home match against Inter.
