Beppe Marotta believes that Inter Milan “have everything to lose as the favourites” ahead of their derby clash with AC Milan.

The Nerazzurri President spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of this evening’s Serie A clash with city rivals the Rossoneri.

Inter have certainly taken on the tag of favourites ahead of this evening’s match against Milan.

For one thing, the Nerazzurri have won each of their last six meetings with their city rivals. That is an imposing run in the fixture.

Then, Inter’s form has certainly been superior to that of Milan so far this campaign.

Inter have slipped up with a couple draws in the league. But they’ve yet to taste in defeat in Serie A, and earned an impressive draw away to Manchester City in midweek.

Milan, by contrast, suffered a damaging defeat against Liverpool. That is in top of having taken just five points from their opening four Serie A matches.

Inter look like a well-oiled machine on the pitch. The lineup and the way that they play now look familiar, if not exactly easy to stop.

Milan, on the other hand, have been experiencing growing pains under new coach Paulo Fonseca.

So much so, in fact, that Fonseca’s future is in major doubt.

Marotta: “Inter Have Everything To Lose As Favourites” Vs AC Milan

Inter President Marotta commented that “We know that we have everything to lose.”

“Therefore, we need more determination than ever because we’re the favourites,” he continued.

“That’s something that’s in the heads of the players, and of all of us,” Marotta said.

Of the fact that this is Milan derby number eighteen for him since he arrived at Inter, Marotta said that “That’s further motivation.”

“It’s a match that already has a particular flavour.”

“Everyone around the club is charged up and ready to give their all to get the best possible result,” the Inter President said.

Marotta said of the derby that “The fans expect a lot.”

“So we have to prepare for it with even more concentration and determination, without looking at the league table.”
