Inter Milan’s early Champions League exit to Bodo/Glimt has had a significant financial consequence, with the Nerazzurri’s UEFA prize money falling from nearly €137 million last season to just €71 million this term, a drop of over €60 million on the European stage alone.

According to Calcio e Finanza, via FCInterNews, Italian clubs collectively received €308 million in UEFA prize money across the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League this season.

Indeed, a reduction of €117 million compared to the 2024/25 campaign, when Serie A clubs received over €425 million in total.

Two factors explain the decline.

Fewer Serie A clubs participated in this season’s Champions League, and Inter’s trajectory through the competition was dramatically shorter than twelve months ago.

Indeed, last season’s run to the Champions League final under Simone Inzaghi generated almost €137 million for the club.

This season, the painful playoff elimination at the hands of the Norwegian club brought that figure down to €71 million.

Furthermore, Atalanta, the only Italian side to reach the last 16, earned €70 million, narrowly behind Inter.

Juventus reached €64 million, while Napoli, eliminated during the league phase, received just €49 million.

Therefore, the financial cost of Inter’s European stumble is now laid bare, reinforcing why a deep Champions League run remains a priority for the club’s planning beyond the current season.
