Inter Milan are preparing to revive their pursuit of Moussa Diaby this summer, with Corriere dello Sport reporting that the Nerazzurri remain convinced the Al-Ittihad winger is exactly the type of player their squad needs, and that they will have far more time this window to make it happen.
However, they ran into firm resistance from the Saudi club, who showed no willingness to negotiate mid-season.
The pursuit stalled, but the interest never faded, according to the Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Champions League performances this season have repeatedly underlined the same structural issue.
Inter lack genuine quality in one-on-one situations and directness in behind.
Diaby, a player who offers precisely those attributes in abundance, remains the profile that best addresses that gap.
According to Corriere, the summer approach will follow the same logic as January but with a crucial advantage, time.
A longer window gives Inter the opportunity to apply sustained pressure on Al-Ittihad and construct a deal on more favourable terms.
Crucially, the outlet also reports that any move for Diaby would not be dependent on Marcus Thuram departing first.
The club are prepared to make the investment independently, suggesting their ambition in the market this summer extends beyond simply replacing outgoing players.
Diaby, for his part, is understood to still be waiting.
The interest is mutual, and this time Inter intend to see the pursuit through.
