Liverpool have been following Marcus Thuram for a while and continue to covet him, but the striker is fully focused on Inter and the ongoing season. The Reds have been after him since Jurgen Klopp was on the bench. Their interest has increased this campaign because of his impressive performances, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Frenchman has an old €85M clause in his contract, which runs out in 2028. He waxed lyrical about the Nerazzurri after the clash between Italy and France in Milan.
“I love this stadium. I love San Siro. This match was truly special to me because I was playing against my brothers. It was very weird. I care for them and I’m happy each time I meet them. I had another battle with Alessandro Buongiorno, who marked me well during the clash versus Napoli. Let’s hope Hakan Calhanoglu’s injury isn’t too serious and that he can recover quickly.”
Despite the interest from Liverpool, Thuram has his sights set only on faring well with Inter and improving his numbers. He’s been in Italy for almost a season and a half at this point following a Bosman move. He’s up to 8 goals, although concentrated in 4 matches, after hitting the net 13 times in all of 2023/2024.
He’s been a massive bargain no matter what, but they could use more consistency and better touch in the box from him. If he manages to further improve, they’ll have to consider a renewal to remove his release clause. It’ll match his market value if he scores 20-plus goals this season.
