According to Globo.com, a Federação Gaúcha de Futebol representative will accompany Internacional at Neo Química Arena for the Copa do Brasil last-16 second leg, following refereeing controversy in the 2-0 first-leg win.
Corinthians executive Marcelo Paz publicly alleged intimidation of referee Alex Gomes Stefano and complained about the distribution of seven yellow cards.
Inter issued an official note rejecting any external attempts to influence officiating and complained that Corinthians’ post-match comments sought to condition the refereeing, while also recalling disputes from 2005, 2009 and 2020.
FGF is still deciding which official will be at the stadium and handling logistics for the tie. President Luciano Hocsman has been in frequent contact since Sunday with Inter chief Alessandro Barcellos and CBF refereeing director Netto Góes. The federation is reinforcing institutional support without questioning CBF conduct or attributing influence to Corinthians.
Barcellos referenced the 2005 Brasileirão, when the STJD annulled 11 matches, which Inter argue benefited eventual champions Corinthians, and the club has asked CBF to recognise a joint title.
In the 2009 Copa do Brasil final, then vice-president Fernando Carvalho presented a DVD alleging refereeing favoured Corinthians, who won the trophy, an episode since mocked by the São Paulo club. In 2020, Inter also protested over a non-awarded penalty and a disallowed goal against Corinthians at Beira-Rio.
Inter is working to defend its interests and the integrity of the competition, seeking a decisive game conducted with transparency, balance and safety. It insists that qualification be settled solely on the pitch and opposes any external conditioning.
