Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck described the pre-match meeting with his brother Keven Schlotterbeck as a “very special moment” after Dortmund’s 2–0 victory over FC Augsburg.

Both brothers captained their respective teams and shared a brief moment together before kickoff - something Nico said meant a lot to both of them and their family.

“It was a super important and beautiful moment for Keven and me,” he said after the match. “We were really looking forward to it. It’s something very special for us and for our family.”

The Dortmund centre-back highlighted how remarkable it was that the two siblings were able to share such a moment while leading two major German clubs onto the pitch.

“The fact that we were both captains of two big German clubs like Dortmund and Augsburg today and could share that moment before kickoff - that was really beautiful,” Schlotterbeck added.

Nico also revealed that he hopes to spend a bit more time with his brother after the game.

“Now I just hope Keven can stay with me in Dortmund for a couple of days. We haven’t seen each other for a while.”
