Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni says that he’s hoping Valentin Carboni stays at the Nerazzurri.

The 26-year-old spoke to InterTV after yesterday’s win over Urawa Red Diamonds, via FCInterNews. Carboni was the scorer of the dramatic late winner in the Club World Cup clash.

Valentin Carboni was not the likeliest hero for Inter Milan against Urawa Red Diamonds.

The Argentine is only just coming back from an ACL tear that has kept him out since October.

But it was Carboni who Inter coach Cristian Chivu turned to late in the Nerazzurri’s Club World Cup match against Urawa Red Diamonds.

When Chivu threw the 20-year-old on off the bench, Inter were trailing 0-1 in the Club World Cup group stage clash.

However, Lautaro Martinez was able to find the equalizer for Inter.

From then on, it looked as though the Nerazzurri would be settling for a point.

However, it was Carboni who found himself with the ball at his feet inside the penalty area in stoppage time. And the Argentine showed great technique and composure to tuck the ball into the far corner.

Now the big question is whether Carboni will stay at Inter or leave on another loan this summer.

Nerazzurri defender Alessandro Bastoni called Carboni “a great player.”

“He’s already shown that. Then unfortunately last season he got an injury that stopped his growth a bit.”

“But he has unique characteristics that we don’t have in the squad,” Bastoni said of the Argentine.

“We hope that he can use this Club World Cup as a platform to stay with us.”

Then, Bastoni commented on Inter’s last Club World Cup group stage match. Watch Inter Milan vs River Plate for FREE with DAZN on any device!

“Our minimum objective is to get our of the group,” said the 26-year-old.

“Because we didn’t come here on vacation. We really want to do well after a really difficult end to the season.”

“Between Inter and the national there were some bad defeats,” Bastoni admitted.

“But I repeat: we’re here to fight. And we really want to get to the next round.”
