Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior says Reece James is unwell, creating fresh doubt for Tuesday’s visit of Leeds United, while Cole Palmer and Andrey Santos have positive updates.

Rosenior said James is fit but feeling ill and he hopes the captain will be well enough to feature, according to football.london.

James missed Saturday’s Premier League win at Wolves after a knock, as Palmer struck a first-half hat-trick in a 3-1 victory, and Santos took a late ankle blow. Rosenior had said James was close to being involved.

The head coach described Palmer as vital to their aims, welcomed his scoring spree and added he is fit for tomorrow, while hoping that form continues.

Santos trained after ankle swelling and is fine for tomorrow. Tosin Adarabioyo also trained. Romeo Lavia has rejoined the training pitch under a detailed plan and the staff will ensure his next return is for good.
