Iván Tona offered to Club América as Xolos midfielder considered | OneFootball

According to Americayya.net, Iván Tona has been offered to Club América as the club have yet to act in the transfer market. The squad from last season remains in training at Coapa.

América are seeking exits for players not in the plans, but high salaries, contract lengths and reluctance to move have complicated matters.

While foreign player situations are assessed, the board are studying Mexican options who could add quality. Tona, a 25-year-old holding midfielder, is a regular starter for Xolos.

His defensive profile could suit América, given the only natural holding players are Alan Cervantes and Jonathan dos Santos. Neither appears set to start for the Águilas next tournament.

For now, Tona has merely been offered and there is no negotiation. As depth he might help, but if sought as a starter he may not be enough.

The tournament begins in less than two weeks and, whatever happens, reinforcements again will not arrive in time. América will have to start with the current group, without a suitable pre-season for any additions.
