Iwan Roberts has urged Wrexham to consider a January move for Norwich City forward Josh Sargent amid mounting interest in the 25-year-old. MLS side Toronto FC are reported to have prepared a bid worth around £13.5m as he chases a place in this year's US World Cup squad.

Roberts said, speaking to the Fearless in Devotion podcast: "I think it would be a really good addition, because he's a good player. He's good with his back to goal and he can score goals."

He added: "I always thought he was a good teammate, but maybe I'm questioning that now after how he's dealt with the situation that occurred over the weekend. I still think in this division, it would be a welcome addition to any club."

He continued: "I think that [not starting] would be a big issue for Sargent. He wants to be starting every game from now until the end of the season because of the World Cup in his home country."

Norwich manager Philippe Clement has ruled out a January exit and warned of consequences after Sargent messaged him on Saturday evening to make himself unavailable for Sunday's 5-1 home win over Walsall, having started the previous three Championship matches. Sargent has eight goals in 25 this season, 56 in 157 since joining from Werder Bremen in August 2021. Wrexham are ninth, one point off the play-offs, and host Norwich on Saturday after eliminating Nottingham Forest on penalties last Friday.
