The Manchester City and England star was seen dropping comments on Derry’s Instagram account after he made his Chelsea debut last weekend, and many were a bit puzzled to see the current on loan Everton player interacting with a Chelsea youngster.

Derry is certainly getting many admiring glances right now as Liam Rosenior decided the time was right to give him his Chelsea debut, and he certainly looks like he could end up being the real deal, showing a lot of promise and potential.

Many Chelsea fans are even calling for him to get a start in the team over Alejandro Garnacho right now, with the former Manchester United man not impressing much so far.

Grealish connection with Derry

Not only has their playing styles drawn comparisons, Grealish knows the Derry family well.

The Athletic reports that Grealish has known the family since playing under Jess’s father Shaun while on loan at Notts County from Aston Villa as a 17-year-old.

He’s stayed in touch with Shaun and his family, hence why Grealish congratulated Jesse after making his Chelsea debut against Hull.
