Everton Secure Jack Grealish on Season-Long Loan Move

Everton have completed the signing of Jack Grealish from Manchester City on a season-long loan, bringing one of England’s most recognisable attacking talents to Merseyside. The 29-year-old will link up with David Moyes’ squad as the club prepares for a new chapter at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Speaking to evertontv after finalising his loan move, Grealish made clear just how much the opportunity means to him. “It’s massive for me, honestly. This is a great club, with great fans,” he said. “As soon as I spoke to the manager, I knew there was only one place that I wanted to go. On social media, I’ve been flooded with messages from Everton supporters, so there’s that side of it as well and that’s another reason why I chose Everton.

“I want to say thank you to the fans for all of the messages I’ve had already. Thank you for all of the love and support. I hope I can repay you now and I’m sure I will.”

Special Connection to the Number 18 Shirt

Grealish will wear the No 18 shirt, a choice inspired by two of his footballing heroes. “There is a reason for it,” he explained. “There were other numbers but my two favourite English players ever are Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne and I know they both wore number 18 here.

“So, as soon as I knew this deal was close, I had a look and number 18 was free, so that was perfect for me and it was the only number I was going to take from that point.

“I spoke to Wayne before I came here and I mentioned that to him – about the number 18 – so I hope he’s happy as well.”

Career Reset for England International

Grealish turns 30 next month and arrives at Everton eager to play consistent Premier League football in a World Cup year. Manchester City acknowledged his need for regular game time, leaving him out of their Club World Cup squad to allow for a full pre-season and a move that suits all parties.

Sky Sports News has reported throughout the summer that the England international is determined to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans for next summer’s tournament. He has been working with a personal trainer to ensure he is in peak physical condition for the season ahead.

Serie A champions Napoli had also shown interest earlier this summer, but Grealish’s decision to remain in the Premier League reflects his desire to make an immediate impact in familiar surroundings. Everton now have a proven creative force who can change games with his vision, dribbling, and passing range.

Time to Deliver at Everton

City’s £100m club-record signing fell out of favour under Pep Guardiola last season, making just one Premier League start and missing out on the FA Cup Final defeat to Crystal Palace. Yet his role in the Treble-winning campaign of 2023 remains a testament to his quality.

For Everton, this loan move represents both ambition and opportunity. Grealish has the pedigree, experience, and hunger to thrive in Moyes’ set-up, providing an injection of creativity and flair. His first chance to do so could come against Leeds on 18 August in the club’s Premier League opener, live on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
