James Tavernier has emerged as a potential summer target for Wolves as they plan a rebuild for a Championship promotion push. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the out-of-contract Rangers right-back is the latest name linked with Molineux.

The 34-year-old has confirmed he will end his 11-year spell at Ibrox, where he scored 144 goals in 563 appearances. He has previously been linked with returns to England, and this summer Spurs have also been credited with interest.

Wolves are said to be assessing him among several experienced options, with Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil also linked. Any approach remains uncertain at this stage.

A Newcastle academy graduate who had multiple loans in England before moving north, Tavernier has collected domestic honours and produced rare numbers for a full-back. He has regularly hit double figures for goals and assists, aided by his penalties, free-kicks and corners.

Rob Edwards’ side aim to control Championship games, and Tavernier’s attacking thrust from right-back could suit that approach. With Adam Armstrong leading the line, contributions from full-back could provide a significant boost.

Wolves have lacked leadership across the past two campaigns, another area Tavernier could address. Steven Gerrard, who made him captain at Rangers, has argued his goals, assists and loyalty are hard to replicate and that replacing him will be difficult. Former Ibrox manager Mark Warburton has also highlighted Tavernier’s delivery, resilience and character, calling him outstanding for Rangers.
