Sporting Kansas City have transferred Designated Player striker Alan Pulido to Liga MX giants Chivas Guadalajara. The move for SKC opens up a Designated Player spot for this club heading into 2025. Pulido initially came over ahead of the 2020 MLS season as the organization’s record transfer spend.

The former Mexican international striker’s time within MLS and Kansas City hasn’t always lived up to that record transfer spend. Pulido only eclipsed the 10 goal mark in a season once in his 5 seasons within MLS (also with the understanding that he did miss the entire 2022 MLS season due to injury). Pulido finishes his time at SKC with 38 goals and 15 assists in 108 appearances.

Sporting KC are more than just a new DP striker away from getting back into the playoff picture within MLS. This team has some positive pieces that do have me excited for 2025, but some additions in the midfield along with that new DP striker are needed as soon as possible this off-season.
