West Ham United have to part company with some of their biggest assets this summer, following relegation from the Premier League to the Championship
West Ham United are set to part company with some of their biggest assets ahead of the upcoming Championship season, following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Hammers made a largely poor account of themselves in the top-flight last term, but the likes of Mateus Fernandes, Crysencio Summerville, and Jarrod Bowen were among the standout performers, and have all attracted interest in the summer transfer market.
Fernandes and Bowen were left out of the Portugal and England World Cup squads, respectively, but Summerville has shone at the tournament for the Netherlands so far, notching two goals and an assist.
Meanwhile, the EFL fixture list was released on Thursday, revealing that West Ham will travel to fellow relegated side Burnley for their opening Championship game.

The Hammers need to utilise the summer transfer market to raise funds following their relegation from the Premier League, but boss Nuno Espirito Santo also needs to build a squad that can win promotion from the Championship at the first time of asking.
Bowen is among the West Ham stars who proved his top-flight credentials over the years, and scored eleven goals as well as registering 12 assists across all competitions last term.
The 29-year-old winger remains a firm fan favourite among the London Stadium faithful, and etched himself into the Hammers' history books when he scored the winning goal in their Conference League final triumph over Fiorentina in 2023.
Furthermore, the 22-cap England international's father-in-law, Danny Dyer, is one of West Ham's most famous supporters.
Speaking to Football Insider about Bowen's future, former Everton, Tottenham, and Aston Villa scout Bryan King revealed what his sources have said, revealing claimed interest from at least eight clubs.
"All the clubs in the Premier League, around the top eight of the Premier League, are certainly looking at Jarrod Bowen. That's what I've been told, and will make him offers," King explained.
"Because he's a player I rate highly. If you want to get back into England, playing in the Championship, it's difficult."
The Three Lions international also has interest from clubs below the Premier League's top eight, as Everton are interested in a £20million move for Bowen, according to Alan Nixon via Patreon.
Toffees boss David Moyes previously got the best out of Bowen at West Ham, which could mean that the former Hull City man will favour a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium amid rival interest.

Bowen has served West Ham well since joining the East London outfit from Hull back in 2020, twice helping them to top-seven finishes in the Premier League as well as winning the Conference League title three years ago.
Furthermore, as previously mentioned, he has family ties with the Hammers, which will make his decision regarding whether to leave more difficult.
However, Bowen must consider what is best for his career before he turns 30 later this year, and returning to the top flight is surely the right choice to make.
The winger missed out on selection for England's World Cup squad, and surely has to return to the Premier League to get himself back into the Three Lions frame.
