According to Glorioso 1904, Jean-Clair Todibo, formerly of Benfica, now faces formal FA charges, and Chelsea and West Ham have also been charged. Chelsea beat West Ham 3-2 on Saturday.
The closing minutes descended into a mass confrontation. It began when Adama Traoré shoved Marc Cucurella, João Pedro stepped in to support his Chelsea team-mate, and Todibo grabbed him by the neck, leading to the French defender’s dismissal.
The FA has opened an investigation into the players involved in the altercation during the Premier League fixture, which formed part of the 24th round. Both clubs have been charged with improper and provocative conduct.
They have until Friday to submit written explanations that will be considered when sanctions are decided.
Todibo later apologised on social media, saying the heat of the game prompted an inappropriate act and that he accepts full responsibility. The West Ham defender, who plays under Nuno Espírito Santo, added that the behaviour did not reflect him and offered apologies to his club, team-mates, supporters and anyone affected.
