Andrée Jeglertz said Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw should be proud with many aspects of her performance against Tottenham Hotspur, not just her record-breaking hat-trick.

The Jamaican’s 21-minute treble – the quickest in WSL history - set us on our way to a 5-2 WSL win at the Joie Stadium.

It continued Shaw’s remarkable scoring record against Spurs, which now stands at 16 in 12 matches, and took her WSL tally to 18 in as many matches for 2025/26.

But our Head Coach was also quick to highlight the crucial defensive contributions of our centre-forward, insisting she brings much more to this City team than just her incredible scoring record.

He said: “She’s a great player. She’s scoring goals for us, we always talk about that, but how she works defensively.

“At set plays but also in the press, she’s improved on that a lot during the year, but also in setting up team-mates.

“There’s a lot of things in her today that she should be proud of, and the team should be proud of. I’m really happy for that.”

City’s convincing win was the perfect response to a frustrating goalless draw against Aston Villa last week on our return from the international break.

Jeglertz had felt his team were lacking energy in the early stages at Villa Park but took a 5-1 lead in at the break against Spurs.

And our Head Coach felt that reaction was testament to the character of his squad.

“I think it was (a great performance), especially in the first half, showing what qualities the group have, the attacking play, how we press and how we defend,” he added.

“It was a little bit tricky because the last game wasn’t what we wanted from Aston Villa.

“But then we’ve turned it around in five days and had this performance. It shows something about the team.”
