Jeglertz: Players never lost belief in London City win

Andrée Jeglertz says our mentality to power through the game and get a hard-fought win against London City Lionesses something to be proud of.

The Blues secured a last gasp victory at the Copperjax Community Stadium after conceding an equaliser with 20 minutes to play.

It extended our unbeaten WSL streak to 12 matches and our Head Coach was full of praise for his team.

And as he had hoped following our Chelsea Subway League Cup defeat, his side bounced back.

On going nine points clear he said: “It means so much of course for the league table and the points there, that’s one thing, but also the mentality of the group.

“There was no hesitation from the group that we should get this win and the mentality in the group is that finding ways to explore their penalty box and getting the balls in there and creating scoring chances no matter if it’s a good team we’re playing against.”

The Blues also showed their ability to push through and find a way, despite play going against us.

“That’s how it is in this league, that if you are not on top or we miss some easy passes, we were not timed in the press, the team was a little bit too long, then teams will challenge us and that’s why it’s a fascinating league,” Jeglertz added.

“All teams are good and London City are definitely a team to count on for the future and that makes the win even bigger because that means that no matter what we are the ones that are here after the game that can say we’re winning 2-1.”
