Andrée Jeglertz has confirmed Aoba Fujino will be unavailable for City’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture with Everton.
The Japan international didn’t feature in the Blues’ previous assignment, a 5-1 win over West Ham in the Subway League Cup in December in what was our final outing of 2025.
That came after she was forced off with an issue in our league win over Aston Villa on Sunday 14 December.
And Jeglertz says the visit of the Toffees at 12:00 (UK) this Sunday will be too soon for Fujino to make the matchday squad.
But the Swede explained how there are no additional injury issues within City ranks ahead of this weekend’s clash at the Joie Stadium.
Still she’s not available for Sunday unfortunately,” he said.
“We take it week by week and we’ll see how she’s coping with the rehab next week. See how it goes. We need to be there in that state of seeing where she is every week.
“No I wouldn’t say so [there are other players out]. The other ones are hopefully available for Sunday if nothing happens in the last days. Right now we’re in a good place although there are a couple of players.
“Mary [Fowler] is on her way back and Aoba and so on. But we’re having a good amount of players in the sessions so the loading can be there well.”
Australia international Fowler has been recovering from a rupture to her anterior cruciate ligament after suffering the injury in April 2025.
Since then, she’s worked closely with the Club’s medical staff on a rehabilitation schedule and Jeglertz detailed how the forward is now taking part in modified training sessions.
But he issued a call for patience when looking to get Fowler back on the field.
He added: “I’m not saying the tricky part comes now, but she’s been working very hard with her rehab and now it’s about not being too eager.
“We want it so much but being smart in these coming weeks will be crucial.
“Sometimes with the team and modified in some parts and I think that’s how it’s going to be in these coming weeks.
“Everything is how she responds, week to week and day by day in how we progress. She’s a smart girl and knows she won’t put herself in too challenging an environment.
“We also need to be there and the medical staff is doing a great job. This is the part when you’re almost there where you are not pushing it too fast.”
