City head coach Andrée Jeglertz says it's 'likely' Aoba Fujino will be available for selection for City's meeting with Chelsea at the Etihad this weekend.

The Japan international has been absent for the Blues since our victory over Aston Villa in mid-December where she was forced off in the second half during the 6-1 success.

After missing the following six assignments in all competitions, Jeglertz detailed how Fujino has been involved in full training in the week building-up to our Barclays Women’s Super League meeting with Sonia Bompastor’s team.

Although she’ll still need to be assessed after Friday’s session, City’s head coach revealed she could be in the matchday squad for the visit of the reigning WSL champions on Sunday 1 February.

He said: “Aoba, she was training fully today. Let’s see the evolution of today but most likely she will be available on Sunday.

“[Squad depth]that will be crucial definitely.

“We talked about playing the same 11 but at the same time we need players.

“I think we are on top of substitutes coming in and scoring for us so that’s an important statistic.

“We say quite often that everybody’s important but we also do substitutions that are affecting the game. It will be even important on Sunday that we have players that can either keep a result or chase a result.”

During his pre-match press conference on Friday, Jeglertz also provided the latest on Leila Ouahabi’s fitness ahead of the heavyweight bout with Chelsea.

The versatile left-back had been an unused substitute in three of our previous four assignments in all competitions including in each of our last two matches.

And the Swede explained how Ouahabi had returned to full training two days before the game with the Londoners and that she’s available for selection for the Etihad clash.

He added: “She was training fully again today. She’s definitely ready for Sunday.”
