Jesper Lindstrøm has arrived for a Schalke medical, edging a return to the Bundesliga as talks with Napoli continue.

According to BuLi News, the move is not yet final, with Schalke seeking a season-long loan with an option to buy, while Napoli want a mandatory purchase clause worth around five million euros.

The 26-year-old was seen landing at Düsseldorf Airport before travelling to Gelsenkirchen with permission from the Italian club.

Lindstrøm is understood to have agreed personal terms with Schalke and is ready to accept a pay cut to facilitate the switch. Head coach Miron Muslić has made the Denmark international a priority after difficult spells with Napoli, Everton and Wolfsburg.

If negotiations collapse, Schalke are considering Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Facundo Buonanotte as an alternative.

With Lindstrøm and veteran striker Edin Džeko undergoing medicals this weekend, the Royal Blues remain optimistic that a double deal could be close.
