Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez has entered a crucial phase after club president Joan Laporta confirmed that the club have already submitted an official offer to Atletico Madrid.
The latest Barcelona transfer news places the Argentine striker at the top of Hansi Flick’s wishlist, with Barcelona pushing to complete one of the biggest deals of the summer.
As reported before, Barcelona’s bid for Julian Alvarez is worth around €100 million, and the club is now awaiting a response from Atletico Madrid.
While optimism remains within the club, reports suggest the Blaugrana are unwilling to wait forever, with Laporta making it clear that other options will be explored if negotiations fail to progress.
The Barcelona transfer for Julian Alvarez remains the club’s priority this summer, but the Blaugrana have no plans to increase their guaranteed offer beyond €100 million.
Club officials believe the figure accurately reflects the striker’s market value while remaining in line with Barcelona’s financial planning.
Rather than increasing the fixed transfer fee, Barcelona are willing to improve the overall package by including performance-based bonuses.
Those variables could be linked to major team achievements such as winning La Liga or the UEFA Champions League, while individual milestones reached by Alvarez could also be included.
The current Barcelona offer for Julian Alvarez is therefore expected to become more attractive through achievable bonuses instead of a higher guaranteed payment.
Speaking about the negotiations, Laporta confirmed that Barcelona have already made their move and are now waiting for Atletico Madrid’s response.
“We sent a bid for Julian and Atletico will decide. This bid is a very good one, but it’s not valid forever.”

Although the Julian Alvarez transfer remains Barcelona’s preferred option, the club has no intention of allowing one negotiation to dominate their entire summer.
Despite making Alvarez their leading Barcelona transfer target, Barcelona are already preparing for every possible scenario.
If Atletico Madrid refuse to negotiate or continue delaying their decision, Barcelona’s summer transfer plans could shift towards other attacking options identified by Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco.
On that note, Laporta admitted that both Flick and Deco remain united in their desire to sign the Argentina international, but he also stressed that Barcelona are prepared to move on if the situation does not progress.
“Flick and Deco want Julian… but if Atlético do not accept, we will work on alternative options,” he concluded.
