Glorioso 1904 reports that João Cancelo is moving closer to a permanent Barcelona stay, with a two-year deal that could keep him there until summer 2028.

The move is not yet sealed, as the transfer depends on approval from Al Hilal, who hold the full-back’s economic rights and are still negotiating terms.

At 32, Cancelo is preparing to join Portugal for the 2026 World Cup while awaiting clarity on his club future. Despite recent comments about his affection for Benfica and a wish to return one day, he will not be heading back to the Estádio da Luz.

Talks are expected to continue in the coming weeks, though the process is not straightforward. Al Hilal want around 10 million euros, a figure Barcelona are trying to reduce.

This season for Barcelona, Cancelo played 23 competitive games, 16 in La Liga, four in the Champions League and three in the Copa del Rey. Across 1,432 minutes he registered two goals and three assists. He is valued at 9 million euros.
