At 25, João Félix is set to join the Saudi Pro League as a new addition to Al-Nassr. This move has taken the football world by surprise and drew the attention of Jennifer Mendelewitsch, a FIFA agent and manager.
In statements to the French outlet RMC Sport, the manager dubbed the player a 'money-making machine', criticising his attitude and the decisions he has made regarding his career, stating that the Portuguese international is an 'example' of what a player with potential 'should not do'.
"João Félix has not been playing football for a long time. He's a printer; he's a money-making machine and with his own endorsement, since he does not rebel. It's been a long time since he should have taken charge of his career and not let others make decisions for him and send him to projects he does not enjoy. He is an example of what not to do when you are a young player with potential," she began.
"The blame is on everyone, really. The player has decided to go along with projects he does not enjoy. I am trying to defend him, but what I mean to say is that the clubs he has been through are appealing for him to recover. He had a good period with Xavi [at Barcelona] but João is responsible for the path he is taking."
Despite a potential move to Benfica being on the table for several weeks, it is expected that the forward will join the team managed by Jorge Jesus in the coming days.
Last season, João Félix played for AC Milan on loan from Chelsea with the forward featuring in 21 matches and scoring three goals.
