João Malheiro hails court win over ex-Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira

João Malheiro has welcomed a court ruling in his case against former Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira.

According to Glorioso 1904, the journalist and former Benfica communications director set out his reaction in a social media post after the verdict.

He said he told Vieira live on television the next day that he would file a criminal complaint. He added that the court had now delivered its sentence.

The court found Vieira guilty in the case brought by Malheiro. The former Benfica president was ordered to pay the journalist around €6,000 in compensation.

He must also pay €50 to the state for 160 days. Malheiro said he would offer only one comment out of respect for Eusébio and Benfica’s members and supporters, that justice had been done.
