Anderson moved to Barrow from Sunderland in January, featuring 14 times during the second half of the season.

The left-sided centre-back joined Sunderland from Everton in January 2023 and made his senior debut the following month as a late substitute in a 1-1 Championship draw with Millwall.

He made seven senior appearances for Sunderland and spent 2023-24 on loan at Shrewsbury Town in League One, playing 30 games before returning to Wearside.

He came through Liverpool’s academy before joining Everton at the age of 15 in 2016, signing his first professional deal in 2019 and later extending it before moving to Sunderland.

Accrington head coach John Doolan cited Anderson’s EFL experience, left-sided profile and drive, adding that he knows the defender will seize the opportunity.

The move comes amid a busy summer for several former Sunderland players, with Anderson aiming to re-establish himself in League Two.
