Maduka calls for swift action from Magesi heirarchy after poor start to the season

Magesi FC head coach John Maduka has sent a message to the club’s hierarchy as the team is currently enduring a tumultuous start to the 2025/26 campaign.

The Limpopo-based outfit is yet to win a match in the ongoing season, having registered three defeats and as many draws in the first six league outings.

As a result, Magesi are in 14th-place, level on three points with 15th-placed Orbit College and two points ahead of bottom-placed Chippa United.

Moreover, Dikwena tsa meetse have scored three goals and conceded nine, much to the displeasure of Maduka, who called for urgent reinforcements, with the window set to slam shut on 22 September.

“I think it would be important to add one [defender] if it is available out there with experience as well. Again, we need a player that will be able to score because we must score. The difference in the many games that we have played is that these teams score,” said the Malawian tactician.

“For example, the first game against Sundowns, we had good chances in the first half, we didn’t make use of them. Sundowns came as a different team in the second half, they had opportunities, they made use of them, and we lost the game.

“So, it’s something we must learn and make sure that we change [our fortunes] as quick as possible because we are losing points.

Magesi will visit Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium in their next league outing on Wednesday, 17 September, on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns last Saturday.
