Corinthians fell 4-1 to Joinville in their 2026 LNF opener at Centreventos Cau Hansen in Santa Catarina, missing the chance to record consecutive opening wins.
According to Meu Timao, they had started last season with a 6-0 victory over Campo Mourão. The last time they won openers in successive years was 2022 and 2023, beating Tubarão Futsal 2-0 then Campo Mourão 4-1.
Under coach Fernando Malafaia, Corinthians again failed to halt a barren LNF run against Joinville that is approaching four years. Their last victory in this fixture came in 2022, 4-3, in a season that finished with the league title.
Last year, Corinthians finished runners-up, losing the final to Jaraguá Futsal, who secured back-to-back titles. This season they will also contest the Paulista de Futsal and the Copa LNF.
Defeat leaves Malafaia's team without points in 15th place. They host Magnus on Friday 3 April at 19:30 at Ginásio Wlamir Marques in São Paulo in round two.
