Al-Riyadiyah reports that Jorge Jesus has made renewing his Al-Nassr contract conditional on Cristiano Ronaldo staying, with the coach’s future said to be tied to his compatriot amid uncertainty over an exit clause that can be triggered in the summer window.

Jesus is said not to be discussing fresh terms until Ronaldo’s situation is clearer, and his own deal expires at the end of the current season.

Ronaldo has missed Al-Nassr’s last two matches after voicing frustration over how the Saudi Public Investment Fund distributes resources between its clubs, with Karim Benzema’s switch from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal cited as the final straw. He had wanted winter reinforcements as they chase the Saudi Pro League title, but none arrived.

That stance is also understood to have frustrated Jesus, who had been waiting on two signings requested since early January, but those have not materialised. He took charge ahead of the 2025-26 campaign and has 24 wins in 30 games.

Reactions have been split. Toni Kroos has voiced support for Ronaldo, arguing the league’s global profile rests largely on him, while prominent host Walid Al-Faraj has condemned the forward’s behaviour and said he must respect the competition or move on.

Ronaldo’s world-record deal, believed to be worth close to £500,000 a day, runs until 2027, and a decision on his long-term future may follow after he represents Portugal at this summer’s World Cup.
