On The Wolves Poddy With Judah and Spiers, it was claimed that Jose Sa tried to join Nottingham Forest in January, adding to suggestions he could depart this summer with Wolves’ top-flight place hanging by a thread.

Relegation could be confirmed within hours, after Brighton’s late equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur kept the club alive in the top flight.

The claim surfaced amid fresh dressing-room friction. Tolu Arokodare was recently fined by Wolves for a bust-up with Mateus Mane, with the striker described as the sole aggressor.

There was also said to be a separate flashpoint after the Crystal Palace match, when Sa delivered a verbal dressing-down to Mane in front of team-mates. There was no suggestion of physicality, and Mane is 18.

Sa, the captain, was described as desperate to leave in January and as having pushed hard for a switch to Forest, only for it not to happen. Talks between the clubs were reported at the time, and Forest are now managed by former Wolves boss Vitor Pereira.

Taken together, these developments point towards a summer parting. As Wolves brace for the Championship, Sa may be among the first to move on and could face a strong reaction from fans if he does.
