Joselu Mato could return to La Liga this summer after two years in Qatar. According to RadioMarca, he is not planning to renew his Al-Gharafa contract, Sevilla sporting director Antonio Cordon admires him and he is among their targets, with any move contingent on the club avoiding relegation.

He is expected to receive other proposals as a free agent. The veteran was a reliable scorer late in his La Liga career with Alaves and Espanyol before a single season at Real Madrid.

The 36-year-old left Madrid after helping them win a Champions League and La Liga double, marked by his iconic brace in the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich. He then accepted a lucrative offer from Al-Gharafa.

Across the past two seasons in Qatar he has made 57 appearances, scoring 27 goals and providing five assists. In theory, his profile could address Sevilla’s perceived need for a natural source of goals.

Akor Adams has led the line for Los Nervionenses this year, yet there remains a sense the attack lacks a consistent finisher. Joselu, on a free, would fit that brief.

Sevilla are also set to explore a move for Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Conde. The 27-year-old joined from Leganes in 2024 for 4m, impressed early, then lost his place to Luiz Junior, and after Arnau Tenas arrived last summer he has become third choice with three years left on his deal.

Odysseas Vlachodimos has impressed on loan from Newcastle United this season. It seems Sevilla are not planning to pursue a permanent signing.
