Ruben Amorim reportedly considers his countrymen Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot his favourites among Manchester United players.

The 40-year-old has been at Old Trafford for almost a year, but his reign thus far has been characterised by turmoil and disappointing results, although he had inherited these woes from his predecessors.

Nevertheless, the manager can at least count on the support of his two compatriots, who have been backing him throughout these tumultuous times. For instance, Dalot insisted that United will eventually win the Premier League under Amorim.

Bruno Fernandes & Diogo Dalot are Amorim’s two favourites at Man United

According to the Daily Mail journalist Chriss Wheeler, Fernandes and Dalot are indeed the manager’s closest allies at Carrington.

“He’s from Portugal, and I think his two favourites are Bruno and Dalot,” said Wheeler during his appearance on the United Stand.

Despite his solid bond with the manager, Bruno has been fielded in a less-than-perfect role, according to many pundits and observers.

The 30-year-old is originally an attacking midfielder, but he’s being deployed as one half of the double pivot to make room for the club’s summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, not to mention the revitalised Mason Mount.

As for Dalot, he has been splitting his playing time almost equally between the two flanks, as he’s versatile enough to cover either wing-back role.

But while the Portuguese duo have been supporting the under-fire manager in his tactical plans even when they didn’t necessarily benefit from them, other Man Utd players have been far from happy with the current 3-4-2-1.

As Wheeler explains, the MUFC stars don’t hold any grudges against Amorim, but they have some question marks regarding the formation.

“The players have doubts about the system, not so much about him personally. I think they want to win things, they want things to work out.”

Would Amorim consider a tactical change at Man Utd

Needless to say, Amorim’s system has been one of the biggest debate points since his arrival at Man Utd, as most pundits feel that the current squad is more suited to play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, arguing that a formation change would allow Bruno to play in his favourite role, while also giving more space for Kobbie Mainoo.

However, these pleas have fallen on deaf ears, as the former Sporting CP boss insists that the formation isn’t the issue at the club, so a tactical revolution remains unlikely.
