An excellent summing up of where we are at now, with the saga of Newcastle United, Alexander Isak and Liverpool (and any other clubs that might be wanting to buy the Sweden international.

The summer 2025 transfer window opened 79 days ago.

Newcastle United are yet to receive a credible bid for Alexander Isak, only a derisory one made by Liverpool some weeks ago of £110m.

Alexander Isak hasn’t put in a written transfer request to try and help make a move happen. By putting in such a request he would be giving up a large chunk of ‘loyalty’ money if a transfer then did happen.

In only 13 days time at 7pm on Monday 1 September the Premier League transfer window closes.

This is the reality now explained on Alexander Isak for the benefit of Liverpool fans and everybody else…

Luke Edwards of The Telegraph on what the position is now for Newcastle United with Alexander Isak and strikers in general – Tuesday 19 August 2025:

“Newcastle will not sign players they don’t really want to replace Alexander Isak.

“Been the same all summer.

Had they (Newcastle United) got Ekitike or Sesko and Liverpool bid £150m, maybe he could have gone.

“Maybe being the key word here, given stance has always been not for sale.

“But signing a striker for the sake of it now will do far more damage than good long-term.

“Far better to keep Isak and reintegrate. As hard as that has become. Again, the plan all summer.

“They are actively looking for a replacement for Wilson and will continue to do so until the end of the window.”

As I say, this above is a massive reality check.

A move for Alexander Isak in what remains of this transfer window now looks all but impossible.

Instead, Newcastle United now accepting that they are looking for a replacement to fill Callum Wilson’s shirt.

When Alexander Isak is reintegrated into the Newcastle United team to play another season, it won’t be easy.

However, it is anything but impossible.

Newcastle United need him to still be their first choice striker.

Alexander Isak needs to train regularly with the rest of a club squad and play regular football this 2025/26 season, or else his career is in a total mess and surely all but impossible for him to be able to play an effective part when the 2026 World Cup finals come around, if/when Sweden qualify.
