Journalist reveals what Ange Postecoglou did right after being told he’d been sacked following Chelsea defeat | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest made the decision to sack Ange Postecoglou after just eight games in charge.

The sacking came right after the 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea earlier today, Nottingham Forest’s eight defeat in a row under the Australian.

The horrible run was the worst by a Nottingham Forest manager in a century and pressure was mounting on the former Spurs man. The pressure was evident as Ange exploded in a pre-game rant at the press.

Rumours suggested that a defeat against Enzo Maresca’s side could result in an immediate sacking and that’s exactly what unfolded at the City Ground.

According to The Daily Briefing, Ange was sacked just ten minutes after the full time whistle.

Evangelos Marinakis was seen frustrated in the stands and after going two goal down, he disappeared from his seat.

The report claims that this was indicative of what is coming next. Soon after the full-time whistle, reports emerged that he has been sacked followed by official confirmation.

Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs revealed how Ange reacted to the sacking, with the Australian leaving the stadium after some brief goodbyes.

Taking to X, Jacobs reported: “Evangelos Marinakis informed him immediately after the Chelsea loss. Some brief goodbyes said before Postecoglou left the ground.”

And TNT Sports reporter Jules Breach gave their viewers a detailed insight into the aftermath of the sacking. She revealed how the the Forest players were taken into the dressing room and then into the boardroom.

And while Postecoglou was in the dressing room with the players, once the players came out to go to the boardroom, Ange went into the other direction.

She said:

“After the interview, Morgan Gibbs-White was taken into the dressing room with the players and after that they were all taken into the boardroom where I imagine a long meeting will be happening now.

“Just so you know, from what we saw in the tunnel, prior to that interview, Ange Postecoglou went into the dressing room, spoke to his players, but he then actually went to the other side of the tunnel area.

“We saw him come out of there and Edu was in the corridor as well at the time. Ange Postecoglou left with a bag on his back and went towards the car park. At that point, it seemed like the writing was on the wall.

“As far as we’re aware, Ange Postecoglou has left the stadium, or at least he isn’t in the tunnel area. That’s the latest I can bring you.”

Sean Dyche is someone who has been contacted by Forest for the job as reported by insider Indy Kaila.

Another name linked with Nottingham Forest was former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, however, he is not expected to leave Celtic until the end of summer.

The owner has put himself on the spot, with many believing he is to be blamed for the collapse of Nottingham Forest.

They were incredible under Nuno last season, with the Portuguese manager taking them to a seventh finish and a Europa League qualification.

That hasty call has destabilised the club. Forest have now gone through two managers in under three months, losing any sense of identity or direction.

Marinakis must get this next appointment right, and more importantly, allow time for the new manager to rebuild confidence and stability both on and off the pitch.
