Jude Bellingham has reflected on England's 2-1 World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina, sharing a poem written by the team's driver.
The player said in a post that he had struggled to find words about Wednesday's loss and recent weeks. He added that the driver's message from Kansas City summed up his feelings, and he thanked fans who spent hard-earned money to support the team in the United States while calling for unity.
Bellingham, 23, who has scored six goals at this World Cup, attached a four-page work by Michael Chandler, England's driver during the tournament. It was dated 15 July, the day of the Argentina match, and titled The Lion's Way.
The poem encourages the squad to stay humble and keep faith. It focuses on resilience when bodies tire and legs feel heavy, stressing unshakeable spirit rather than seeking praise.
England's tournament is not over. They face France on Saturday at 23:00 in the third-place match.
