Julian Brandt believes that Felix Nmecha is doing an excellent job in the Borussia Dortmund midfield, hailing his teammate's ability to control proceedings from the number six role.
Felix Nmecha is enjoying an excellent turnaround at Borussia Dortmund this season, and has made himself a vital part of the team in his new number six role. The 24 year old appears to be in the form of his life and has shored things up for BVB with his presence and aggressiveness in the middle of the park.
After scoring his first-ever goal for Germany, Nmecha continued his fine run of form this past weekend as he found the back of the net with a sublime strike during Borussia Dortmund's 4-0 win over SC Freiburg. And Julian Brandt was full of praise of his teammate after the game.
"[Marcel Sabitzer] and I don't have to drop back too much because we know Felix will come out of his shell," Brandt said (via Kicker). "He brings balance to our team. He's been consistently very good and stable now. He's an incredibly dynamic player with a good shot and strong physicality. You get the feeling he's like a sick person. He always gets to all the balls, chases them away and is extremely important for us."
Not just Brandt, but Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can also lauded Nmecha's impact and hailed his high potential. "He's a player with a lot of potential, and now he is showing what he is capable of and I hope it stays that way," Can said (via Ruhr Nachrichten).
It will be interesting to see if Felix Nmecha can now go on and keep his run of form going in the coming months. This weekend's Der Klassiker will be a big test of his skills, as he will have to keep the in-form Jamal Musiala at bay.
