Julien Stephan has opened up on QPR's dressing room after their victory over Birmingham City
QPR manager Julien Stephan has opened up on what their dressing room is like after beating Birmingham City.
Rangers have experienced a positive season thus far, although it has been full of ups and downs.
They started the campaign with just one point in their first three matches, a run of form which also included a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Coventry City. With doubts creeping in about new manager Stephan’s ability in the English game, QPR needed to respond, which they did immediately.
Four victories in their next six matches marked a sharp upturn in form, with the R's also unbeaten during that time. Just as they looked to be in the play-off hunt, four defeats from the following five Championship matches halted that progress.
It’s hard to sustain a top six charge with this level of inconsistency, but Stephan’s side look to be in another strong patch of form now. They have won four of their previous five second-tier encounters, pushing them up into the play-off places.
The most recent of these wins came in dramatic fashion against Birmingham City, with Stephan opening up on his side’s dressing room after the victory.

QPR looked to be holding on to an impressive 1-0 triumph over Birmingham City last time out, with Jimmy Dunne opening the scoring after 40 minutes.
Blues couldn’t respond for the remainder of the 90 minutes, but during the opening minutes of stoppage time, Patrick Roberts struck home at the back post to level proceedings.
QPR looked crestfallen, but instead of accepting the draw, decided to go all out for victory. This resulted in Kieran Morgan striking from range in the 90+6th minute, which led to scenes of uncontrollable jubilation around Loftus Road.
Following the match, Stephan opened up on the atmosphere inside his team’s dressing room after securing victory in such dramatic fashion.
“Of course, I was very frustrated after the goal we conceded because it was something that we talked about together at the beginning of the game,” stated Stephan to QPR’s club media. “And the fact that we needed to close the far post - but this team and this dressing room is completely crazy, and I think today, of course, it's a big, big win.
“All the credit to the players because they did so well, and I think we felt the atmosphere in the stadium and the stands - and it was crazy today. Crazy.
“It was a big shot of adrenaline for everybody, for all the players and the fans as well.”

During a Championship campaign of 46 matches, teams will be tested in a number of ways.
As QPR have shown, there will be periods of the campaign where victories flow easily and other parts when putting points on the board seems utterly impossible.
Having a strong dressing room throughout can prove to be a major advantage as a result, with players sticking together and not reacting emotionally to poor runs of form.
This could benefit QPR massively in the play-off race, with the unity in their group a weapon that other clubs in the fight may not enjoy to the same standard.
Only time will tell whether the Rs can record a top six finish, but Stephan’s glowing report about the mood inside the dressing room can only be taken positively.
