Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid have been dealt a significant blow as the club has confirmed that Vinicius Jr. has sustained an injury to the femoral biceps in his left leg.

This diagnosis follows medical tests conducted by the club’s medical team. While specific details about his recovery timeline will depend on his progress, initial estimates suggest that the Brazilian star will be sidelined for approximately one month.

“Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Vini Jr., he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. His progress will be monitored,” read a statement from the club.

A big loss for Real Madrid

The news comes at a critical time for Los Blancos, as Vinicius has been a key player in their attacking setup. His absence will force Ancelotti to rethink his plans for upcoming fixtures.

The forward’s injury stems from the recent match against Leganes, where he played the full 90 minutes. Despite his efforts, Vinicius could not find the back of the net, but his determination to score likely contributed to his fatigue.

After the match, he reported discomfort in the locker room, which prompted immediate medical tests. Unfortunately, these tests confirmed the severity of his condition.

Matches he will miss

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Vinicius had already been heavily involved in international duties with Brazil. He played full matches against Venezuela and Uruguay, which undoubtedly added to his physical strain.

Ancelotti had recently shifted Vinicius to a more central position during recent games to manage this workload, leaving Kylian Mbappe to operate on the left wing. Despite these adjustments, the injury could not be avoided.

Real Madrid’s immediate priority is to ensure Vinicius recovers fully ahead of their Intercontinental match in Doha on 18 December.

Until then, he is set to miss crucial fixtures against Liverpool, Getafe, Athletic Club, Girona, Atalanta, and Rayo Vallecano. This string of challenging matches will test Real Madrid’s depth and adaptability in his absence.
