According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roberto De Zerbi is among the candidates that Juventus are looking at if they choose to replace Thiago Motta as head coach at the end of the season.
The Old Lady are fourth in Serie A and results are not quite meeting the high expectations that the club’s supporters demand. The club suffered a shock elimination from the Coppa Italia during the week when they were knocked out on penalties by Empoli.
The Italian outlet writes that if Juventus cannot secure a Champions League position next season, it’s thought likely that Motta will be sacked from his current position. With this in mind, the club have one eye on succession planning.
The Serie A side are said to be looking at Antonio Conte, Gian Piero Gasperini, and Igor Tudor. However, De Zerbi has impressed with Olympique de Marseille this season and is thought to have earned an admirer in Juventus, although Gazzetta writes that he is an “outsider” on the list of head coaches as he has never previously been contacted by the club.
