Juventus have shortlisted Jean-Philippe Mateta, should they have the ammo for one winter coup. They will most likely lose Dusan Vlahovic for free in the summer and could bring in his heir early if there’s the chance, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
Luciano Spalletti has signed off on the potential addition as he likes the player. The two clubs have been in contact, but Crystal Palace want €30/35M to let their star go in January. The Bianconeri aren’t the only side tracking him.
Juventus have Mateta at the top of their preferences, but they could offer that much only in the event of a profitable sale. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, their management has decided to stop cashing in on youngsters, considering some big errors in the past. A few of them flourished and are worth a lot more now.
Instead, they are open for business for a pair of veterans. For instance, Federico Gatti, who has missed a lot of time and has a €25M price tag, and Teun Koopmeiners. Galatasaray’s interest is tangible.
The Crystal Palace ace has often been linked with a move to Serie A, but he has always been expensive, and his side never facilitated his exit. He has recorded 10 goals and 2 assists in 32 matches across all competitions this campaign.
He’d complement either Jonathan David or Lois Openda nicely, forming a well-assorted front-line, giving their coach more tactical options. However, unless they know that a rich bid for one of their outcasts is coming, it’s hard to imagine they’ll have that kind of dough in this window, and the Eagles have been tough bargainers when other outfits have tried.
