According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus is actively pursuing potential free-agent targets and has made an initial enquiry for Roma’s Turkish international full-back, Zeki Çelik.
Juventus, with CEO Damien Comolli spearheading a focus on fiscal responsibility, is keen on high-quality players whose contracts are nearing expiry. The club views a reinforcement on the wing as “very precious” to the squad, making Çelik a prime candidate.
The newspaper confirms that Juventus has launched “initial enquiries” for Çelik, whose contract with Roma is also set to expire.
Juventus’s strategy appears to be focused on disrupting Çelik’s current contract renewal talks with Roma. The Bianconeri are hoping to “be a decisive factor in slowing down the negotiations” between the player and the capital club. By stalling the process, Juventus aims to position itself to sign Çelik as a free agent.
However, the situation is not straightforward. The report notes that, unlike some other targets, dialogue between Çelik and Roma is currently open, and there is “optimism” filtering from the capital regarding a potential renewal for the Turkish defender.
