According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus officials travelled to make an offer to the Polish striker while he was on international duty.

Lewandowski is in the final year of his contract at Barcelona, and there is still no clarity over whether he will renew or walk away for free.

If he does go for the latter option, Juventus want to be in front of the queue, hence the early proposal.

The 37-year-old is still a lethal centre-forward capable of operating at the highest level.

Despite a drop from previous staggering numbers, he has bagged 16 goals and three assists in 37 appearances this term.

Despite a few niggling injuries, the former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich ace is fit as a fiddle. He would welcome the chance to stay in a top-five European league.

Juventus pair Lois Openda and Jonathan David have been dreadful in front of goal. The Bianconeri need a serious option to lead the line, especially with Dusan Vlahovic’s future also uncertain.

Saudi Pro League clubs will make offers as they look to continue boosting their global profile by signing renowned European football stars.

Lewandowski would be a top addition for Juventus, but their fans will be frustrated by the club’s movements ahead of the summer transfer window.

Juventus risk stacking their squad with ageing players heading into the twilight of their careers.

They are reportedly set to enter the free-agent market for players such as Lewandowski, Leon Goretzka, Bernardo Silva and Antonio Rudiger.

These are fantastic footballers in their own right, but the youngest player on that list is 31 years old.

They risk saturating their squad with players on the decline, which is never a great idea.
