The name Kai Havertz crops up regularly whenever FC Bayern is linked with attacking players. Now a report from Spain has once again caused speculation. According to the report, the German international is a hot candidate for the record champions. But as is so often the case, it’s worth taking a look behind the headline – and from Munich’s point of view, it’s clear
In the BILD podcast Bayern Insider, Christian Falk and Heiko Niedderer put the issue in clear terms. The short version: the rumour is not new, but it is currently not reliable. „Not true,“ Niedderer made clear when the name Havertz came up. Falk also confirms this assessment without further ado
Although Havertz is back on track at Arsenal after a long injury break, nothing has changed in terms of the fundamental assessment at FC Bayern. The 26-year-old has been a recurring topic at Säbener Straße in recent years, but there has never been a concrete move
The main reason for Bayern’s reticence lies in the current squad structure. Havertz is a versatile attacking player, feels most comfortable in the center, but can also play up front or on the wing. It is precisely this flexibility that makes him attractive – but also problematic at the same time
„Bayern are very well-staffed in the positions he plays,“ explains Falk in the podcast. With Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl and other options in attacking midfield, FC Bayern currently see no need for him. In the forward line, on the other hand, the hierarchy is clearly defined with Harry Kane. „He won’t be an option behind Harry Kane,“ says Falk
In addition to the sporting component, the financial aspect also plays a central role. Havertz is still under contract with Arsenal until 2028. A transfer would entail a high transfer fee – in a summer in which Bayern already has to work on several construction sites
Munich are being much more selective on the market, especially in light of the recent critical discussion of salary structures, and a costly transfer without clearly defined regular prospects does not currently fit into their strategy
However, the name Havertz is not completely off the table in Munich. Falk hinted that the assessment could change should the sporting or contractual situation at FC Bayern change. „He’s not completely uninteresting,“ said the transfer insider, referring to Havertz’s versatility and his status as a German international
A strong performance at the World Cup or a changed market in the summer could reshuffle the cards.
