Kalvin Phillips ‘to finalise’ Sheffield United loan return to join Patrick Bamford | OneFootball

Kalvin Phillips is set for a second loan at Sheffield United, with The Daily Mail reporting he is finalising a season-long return for 2026/27.

The former Leeds United midfielder joined for the second half of last season and made three appearances. His last outing brought a red card against Sheffield Wednesday, then a knee injury and surgery ended the spell.

He returned to Manchester City this summer, but hopes of a reset under Enzo Maresca faded when he was left out of the 28-man Asia tour named on Tuesday. He has two years left on the six-year deal signed in 2022, and has no future at the Etihad.

Before moving in January, Phillips played one eight-minute City cameo, a 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Huddersfield Town. In four years at City he has started just two Premier League games, with loans at Ipswich Town and West Ham underwhelming amid injury and rust.

Earlier this summer, The Star reported Phillips would welcome a Bramall Lane return, with proximity to family a factor. He was also believed to help younger midfielders Oliver Arblaster, 22, and Sydie Peck, 21. A move back would reunite him with former Leeds teammate Patrick Bamford, who joined last year and signed an 18-month deal in January after an initial short-term stay.
