Lee Carsley has named his England team to take on Greece in the UEFA Nations League this evening.

Harry Kane drops to the bench in the biggest call from the interim boss, with Ollie Watkins preferred at centre-forward. Kane is England’s record goalscorer and has netted 17 times in 16 appearances for Bayern Munich this season, though will start among the substitutes in Athens. Kyle Walker captains the side in the 31-year-old’s absence.

There’s a debut for Liverpool’s Curtis Jones in midfield. Carsley knows the 24-year-old well from the u-21 set-up with Jones having scored a fortuitous winner as England won the u-21 European Championship in 2023.

Ezri Konsa partners Marc Guehi at centre-back with John Stones not in the squad, while Rico Lewis features at left-back.

Conor Gallagher and Jude Bellingham join the aforementioned Jones in midfield, while Anthony Gordon and Noni Madueke offer wide support to Watkins.

England sit second in the group, three points behind Greece. A win for the Three Lions by a two-goal margin or more will send England top of the group with one game to go.
