England started the game off the better side with Elliot Anderson drawing a lot of fouls for the Three Lions.
Bundesliga top scorer Harry Kane was involved in some clever switches to the right hand side for Reece James.
However, Harry Kane and England as a team were unable to get any shots in the first half alongside Argentina who also failed to register a shot on target.
Both teams committed a lot of fouls, with this being one of the most highly fouled games in the World Cup within the early periods.
With nothing to separate the sides, it went 0-0 into the half time break.
During the 55th minute, Anthony Gordon scored for England following a cross from Morgan Rogers on the right side.
Harry Kane played well to win some fouls in the second half but after the goal Argentina piled on the pressure.
During the final twenty minutes, Argentina piled on the pressure with Nico Gonzalez and Rodrigo De Paul coming on to help the World Cup champions.
In the 85th minute, Enzo Fernandez hit a rocket from outside the box to level the game 1-1 with England having brought on a number of defenders before the game to try and hold onto the win.
After this, Argentina continued to apply the pressure and put crosses into the box and this paid off in the 93rd minute as Lautaro Martinez scored to make it 2-1.
England brought in Ivan Toney and Marcus Rashford to try and get an equaliser but it wasn't enough as Argentina held on well to win the World Cup.
