West Brom have offered Josh Maja a new deal and remain in dialogue with Karlan Grant over his future, with James Morrison keen to keep the striker. Former Albion top scorer Kevin Phillips believes both should stay despite questions over Grant’s consistency.
“Karlan Grant has been there a while. We all know he can score goals, at times just a little bit inconsistent.” He was speaking to BestBettingSites.
“I think Josh Maja would be the one I’d be trying to keep because he scored goals for James at a time when they needed him. He got the best out of him, and he clearly enjoys working for James.”
It is a summer of change for Morrison’s side, with captain Jed Wallace and striker Daryl Dike released at the end of their deals.
Grant has mainly operated from the left in recent seasons. The £15 million signing from Huddersfield in 2020 has 35 Albion goals in 173 appearances.
Maja missed much of last season through injury but rallied late under Morrison, scoring three important goals to help secure survival.
