Manchester United could be in prime position to secure the services of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen next summer.
The Red Devils will be looking to find themselves a new centre-forward capable of delivering goals on a consistent basis, a task that neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee has managed to perform this term.
The Premier League giants are being linked with a host of potential candidates. This includes Ruben Amorin’s old Sporting CP disciple Viktor Gyokeres, Lille star Jonathan David who will be a free agent in June, and even Mathys Tel, the youngster they missed out on earlier this month in favour of Tottenham Hotspur.
Nevertheless, Osimhen represents the ideal profile in the eyes of many. The 26-year-old was a menacing force for Napoli throughout the four previous campaigns, cementing himself as one of the most dangerous marksmen in Europe.
But after falling out with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, he was omitted from Antonio Conte’s squad in the summer, and after failing to secure a transfer to a top European side like Chelsea or PSG, he had to accept a loan move to Galatasaray to avoid sitting on the sidelines for an entire campaign.

Osimhen will return to Napoli in the summer, before finding himself a new club. Man Utd would reportedly face competition from Juventus for his services, with the club’s Director of Football Cristiano Giuntoli keen to reunite with the player he had brought to Naples himself.
But according to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Red Devils have the upper hand in the race thanks to a €75 million release clause that is only valid for clubs outside of Italy.
The source adds that United have been active on this front recently, and the next few weeks could bear important developments.
In the meantime, Osimhen continues to deliver the goods in front of goal in Turikiye. He has thus far contributed with 20 goals and five assists in all competitions.
